If we may put our opinion on record it is that the developmeert of

Anglo-Chinese trade mei relations outwudgh very considerably these other

we believe that the muccess of Trade fair will coneixat

interests

ively show.

While socuring your opinions the greatest respect, we feel that

others must also be taken into ocraileration. Of those the first is that

of the Hongkong Goverment who have expressed their approval and supert

of the project. Then there are the inlications of support we have re-

ceived from Karifaciers abromi; from the Chinese, and also from scem of

the longing nerahunta,

In view of the feat that the Trade Fair is looked upon by many

as a constructive nove in the proper årootden, taken at the right time,

your request to postpon the Trade Fair raises a mæber of points rG-

quiring consiäeration before we cɑn gve you a definite reply.

wo

Owing to the support already reosival we have experied ovur

$20,000 - on preparation work, ani male further comitants.

Notios of the Trade Fir ani muggestion that it be suppor‍ted,

has been despatched by the Hongkong Govermont to all the Governants of

the British Empire i we also have distributed Pair literature in the

U.K., throughout the Dominions, ani throughout China.

Could you therefore consider these points and give us your

decision, which will render it easier for us to reach a conclusion as

our action i Are we asked to postpone the True Pair without any

indiation that you will be prepared fully to maport it in, say, Dua-

eber, 1933 : are we to nosupt the loss of monies olreny estpended :

are we to broɑ east throughout the Empire that it is at the request of

tbm H.K. General Chaziber of Cemaroo - an international boy

have postponed the Trade Fair for a year?

The question of the postponent of the Trade Fair requires

very weighty consideration and, we vanture to think, more weigirky

view than those expressed in your letter.
